STM Blair HS purchased and assembled small omiyage or “gifts” to celebrate the seniors at the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) DC Keiro Kai event. Keir Kai literally translates to “Respect-for-the-Elderly Gathering”. It is a cultural event in Japan and Japanese communities, often held annually to honor, celebrate, and show gratitude to senior members of the community. The Governor’s APAA Commission and the Embassy of Japan were also in attendance.
