Our thanks to Velocity of Books for inviting us to take some of their books on June 16, 2018. We picked up over 30 books! We will use these gently read books to help fill the Little Free Libraries in our community.
Small Things Matter and Difference Makers supported Glen Haven ES Running Club fundraiser on June 15, 2018 by engaging others in community service projects. STM engaged children in crafting monster bookmarks and coloring bookmarks to go along with our books. DM engaged volunteers to craft pinatas and assemble favor boxes to support the homeless children Extra-Ordinary Birthdays and to made cards for veterans Soldiers’ Angels (Official). The funds raised will go towards supporting a teacher at Glen Haven ES whose child needs open heart surgery.
STM delivered a button order for the National Library of Medicine Visitor Center’s summer students visits on June 12, 2018. Designing and selling custom buttons is just one of the many ways that STM funds its literacy program and crafting projects.
STM filled Little Free Libraries in Rockville on June 9, 2018. If you know of a LFL that could use some children’s books please drop us a line. Thanks!
Lana had fun making buttons with the children at The Children’s Inn at NIH Carnival on June 7, 2018. Lana and the rest of the NIH Teen Ambassadors were also recognized for their service at this event. Everyone had a lovely evening filled with exciting games, wonderful prizes, great caricatures, delicious cotton candy, and more. #kindness
Lana and Leela of Small Things Matter had an amazing time at the Sandy Spring Museum‘s Strawberry Festival on June 2, 2017. They helped the kids create kindness rocks to be abandoned and discovered by others as a Random Act of Kindness. The day was filled with lots of kids’ activities, craft vendors, food trucks, and more. We can’t wait to join in the fun again next year! 🙂
STM went around Takoma Park today and filled a few Little Free Libraries in the neighborhood with some preloved books. If you know of a LFL that could use some books please drop us a line! Thanks!

Small Things Matter would like to thank Steve and Barbara Whitney/ Share Literacy for their generous book donation for our Books To Bedtime Program. Their donation of 300 copies of “The Man and the Fox” and 300 copies of the bilingual (Spanish/English) “Fatima The Spinner And The Tent” will go a long way in helping us distribute free books to those in need.
