STM Celebrates Juneteenth

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Juneteenth celebration on June 19, 2024 from noon – 6pm at the Lee Jordan Field behind Takoma Park Middle School. We had a very successful health fair where we distributed our healthy eating tips (booklet), administered FREE mental health screening with Dr. Yeside Ojo & Dr. N’Dama Bamba, and FREE high blood pressure screening with Dr. Esther Saggurthi & Lana Anderson, hosted a crafting table, and gave out fresh fruit.

Last School Food Distributions for the 2023-2024 School Year

Small Things Matter just wrapped up the last of our food distributions for the schools we serve: Takoma Park Elementary School, Piney Branch Elementary School, Meadow Hall Elementary School, Weller Road Elementary School, and Oakland Terrace Elementary School. We are proud of all of these students for their commitment to eating healthy. Have a wonderful summer!

Coats and Socks Warm our Hearts!

Our thanks to North Face and Bombas for their generous donation of brand new coats and socks for our families in need! Providing our families and individuals with high-quality items is one way of not only helping them, but also treating them with the respect they deserve. We are grateful to North Face and Bombas for helping us serve them with dignity.

300! A Perfect Score!

No, this isn’t bowling! It is the number of handknit beanies that our team member Kimberly has made for us since she started making and donating hats for our families 2 years ago. Thank you so much Kimberly for sharing your talents with us and keeping our families warm and toasty inside and out!

Hygiene and Cleaning Supply Kits Brighten Our Day!

We are grateful to those doing community service with us for making hygiene and cleaning supply kits. We share these kits at our food distributions in the community, at apartment complexes, senior centers, and at the TP community pantries. We greatly appreciate you wonderful volunteers for purchasing, assembling and donating cleaning and hygiene kits to help our families!
