If you can help with a toy/gift card please drop it off either at the TPSS Co-op (November 22- December 31) or Wegmans Germantown (November 29-December 31) in collection boxes at the front of the stores. We are available to pick up larger donations too. Please contact Roxanne at 202-669-8550. Thanks! #kindness

Barnes and Noble Book Drive

Our thanks to Barnes & Noble for hosting a book drive for us on Saturday, November 16, 2019. They collected over 80 brand new books to support our Books to Bedtime literacy program. Our thanks to Melissa Rivers for organizing this wonderful drive for us.

TP Student Writings at TP Library

Join us at the Takoma Park Maryland Library and enjoy the writings of students from TPES, PBES, and RTES. Their special books are up at the counter. Please enjoy them and share your comments with these wonderful students. If you feel inspired by them please pick up one of our “Be Your Own Author” kits at the library. Our thanks to Mayor Kate Stewart for coming by to read and comment on all the books and to Karen MacPherson for partnering with us on another adventure!

Posters and Button Making Party on November 8, 2019

STM had the pleasure of meeting a truly inspirational little girl and her family yesterday. Meet Kikoyo, a 7-year old activist! We were thrilled to help her and her friends get ready for their march in Washington, D.C. by hosting a poster making and button making party at the TPSS Co-op! We are also very thankful for their donation to our club. Thank you for your kindness and we look forward to seeing your parade photos!!!

STM at “Sofia Valdez, Future Prez” launch at TP Maryland Library on November 8, 2019

A huge crowd of kids and adults enjoyed a presentation by kids author Andrea Beaty, who read her newest book, “Sofia Valdez, Future Prez.” Andrea was joined by Takoma Park Mayor Kate Stewart, who gave examples of how Takoma Park kids – like the fictional Sofia Valdez – persuaded city officials to make Important changes for the environment, such as banning styrofoam containers and plastic straws. Small Things Matter concluded the program by noting community service programs they do with kids. Our thanks to Karen MacPherson, Children and Teen Services Librarian.
