STM at Sandy Spring Museum’s Strawberry Fest

Lana and Leela of Small Things Matter had an amazing time at the Sandy Spring Museum‘s Strawberry Festival on June 2, 2017.  They helped the kids create kindness rocks to be abandoned and discovered by others as a Random Act of Kindness.  The day was filled with lots of kids’ activities, craft vendors, food trucks, and more.  We can’t wait to join in the fun again next year!  🙂

STM Stuffie Workshop with Girl Scout Troop 135 on Saturday, May 19

STM visited Girl Scout Troop 135 on Saturday, May 19.  Lana talked about her experiences as the co-President of Difference Makers, as a NIH Teen Ambassador, and her work with Small Things Matter.  Afterwards she led a monster stuffie crafting workshop for the troop.  The girls decided to donate their stuffies to a variety of children’s hospitals (Children’s Inn at NIH, Children’s National, and Shady Grove Adventist, Pediatrics Unit) because they wanted to support all of these wonderful charities that help children through a difficult time in their lives.

STM at Difference Makers Global Youth Service Day on April 21, 2018

Small Things Matter led a rock painting event at Difference Makers Youth Service America #GYSD on April 21, 2018.  70 of these inpirational rocks were donated to The Children’s Inn at NIH. These will be placed in the mailboxes of their brave patients as part of their Thoughtful Treasures Program which brightens the day of each child by leaving a small present in their individual mailboxes for each day of their stay. The rest of the rocks will be distributed throughout the DC Metro area as a Random Act of Kindness.
